This policy explains what data Panda AI collects when you use our news app, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Panda AI (“we”, “us”) operates the website and app at panda-ai.in, an AI-assisted news reader that ranks and summarises publicly available news. For privacy questions, contact hello@panda-ai.in.

2. Data we collect

Account data — when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo via Google/Firebase Authentication. We do not receive your Google password.
Preferences — your chosen topics, theme, font size, language, and watch-lists (stocks/crypto), so your feed stays personalised across devices.
Usage — counts of actions like conversations, likes, and comments, plus a daily message count used for rate limiting.
Content you create — questions you ask our AI assistant, comments, saved articles, and reactions.
Technical data — basic request information (e.g. IP address, browser type) processed transiently to deliver and secure the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

3. How we use it

To authenticate you and keep your session secure.
To personalise your ranked feed and remember your settings.
To operate features such as the AI assistant, saving, and reactions.
To apply fair-use rate limits and prevent abuse.
To diagnose problems and improve the product.

4. Legal basis

Where applicable (e.g. GDPR), we process data to perform our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product improvement), and with your consent where required.

We share data only with the service providers (“processors”) needed to run Panda AI:

Google Firebase — sign-in / authentication.
MongoDB Atlas — encrypted database hosting for accounts, preferences, and content.
Cloud hosting (AWS) — runs our backend API.
Vercel — serves the website front end.
NVIDIA AI inference — powers the AI assistant; your question text is sent to generate an answer.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Retention

We keep account and preference data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Your rights).

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these, email hello@panda-ai.in. You can edit most data yourself in Settings.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), server-side authorization (the browser never connects directly to our database), strong session secrets, and least-privilege access. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

9. Children

Panda AI is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
